Description

Join Blush Opera for a special performance presented south of Sydney in the intimate performance the space, The Rose Room, in Burradoo. Hear favourite operatic arias and the premiere of the piano arrangement of "Fantasy Songs" by Paul Smith whilst seated in this unique Soouthern Highlands recital venue.

''Fantasy Songs'' depicts different classic figures of fantasy (and one snail) in a series of fantastical songs. Each songs contains its own brief narrative which is narrated by the different figures as they reflect on their position drawing on iconic mythologies and tropes of fantasy. These will be presented alongside well known arias.

Blush is very excited to once again collaborate with artist Mylyn Nguyen whose animations will be exhibited in the space during the performance of Fantasy Songs. More details about Mylyn can be found at her gallery representation - https://www.mayspace.com.au/artists-essay/mylyn-nguyen

Venue Details:

The Rose Room is in a private house in a residential area. The house is accessed by a shared driveway. The best route is by turning from Eridge Park Road into Sunninghill Ave as stated above. Travel 300m past a slight bend in the road, then another 300m to two white posts on the left hand side of the road. A sign ‘ATEA ROSE Lane Private’ is at the start of the driveway. For those visiting The Rose Room for the first time please be aware that the location can be hard to find – finding the way and driving past well before the event is a good idea.

Parking

Given there is unrestricted parking on Sunninghill Avenue, it is preferred that patrons park their cars on Sunninghill Avenue, with a 200m walk up the drive. For those wanting a shorter walk, parking is permitted on the grassed areas surrounding the house: proceed up the drive, observing the 20km speed limit sign, until you reach four white posts marking a culvert. Just beyond, turn left and park, leaving good access for other cars. For those unable to use steps, level access to the Rose Room is available from the rear of the house. Parking here must be on the grass areas against the far fence, nose in. Do not park on the hard stand area. Parking is not permitted on the access road which is in use at all times by neighbours. Nor is parking permitted beyond the south of the Rose Room boundary fence (which is obviously neighbours territory).
